WWE Breaking Ground is the latest series to hit the company’s service, and it has received overwhelmingly positive praise from their fan base. Future recruits, NXT stars, former independent stars, and talent from the latest season of Tough Enough all face the challenges of the WWE system. This past week featured the on-air release of a talent that has been on NXT television for quite some time and with eight episodes left this season, it’ll be interesting to see where the focus goes.
Like any new series, however, questions start popping up over the long term future it may or may not have on the WWE Network. Shows such as Legend’s House, Swerved, and (seemingly) Wrestlemania Rewind all finished after one season of production. Meanwhile shows such as Rivalries and The WWE List are already on their second seasons. I speculated recently that perhaps WWE would keep Breaking Ground around and keep it as a follow up to future seasons of Tough Enough. It makes sense to profile the new personalities that already have exposure to capitalize on the name they’ve built.
The big rumor is that despite wrapping up this season of Breaking Ground already, WWE has begun working on the next season with cameras filming Tye Dillinger taking on Tino Sabbatelli at the latest Gainesville, Florida show back on October 30th. This show was the night before Halloween and as a result featured several talents in different costumes, although this match did not feature any dressing up. Tino, who has been profiled already on Breaking Ground, seems to be one of the key talents the show will focus on, so it would make sense that if a second season were to take place he would be getting camera time.
It is important to stress the fact that this is just a rumor, as there is nothing substantial confirming it to be true. If it is indeed true, it also doesn’t mean that they are definitely filming a second season, but instead they would be tying up lose ends. Many documentaries have recorded footage post-series to add to the final episode to show where the individuals they followed go after, especially if they faced struggles along the way. Rumors of more footage being shot at the Performance Center and other NXT shows has also popped up lately, but again, for now take this all for what it is: rumors and speculation.
