During WWE Survivor Series, the company continued a trend of announcing major new content for the WWE Network on PPV. In this case, we got information on two new original shows and two more editions of the Stone Cold Podcast. Let’s take a look…
Edge & Christian’s Show That Reeks of Awesomeness
Not much is known about either of the newly announced original shows. In both cases, placeholder footage was used to illustrate the theme of the content. With Edge & Christian’s show, I’d imagine it to be a variety/comedy show, likely making some use of archive footage. Basically something similar to the SmackDown 15th Anniversary special they co-hosted last year. One thing that wasn’t made clear, was whether we’ll get a one-off special or a full series. We’ll update you as soon as we know more on that front.
WWE Ride Along
Even less is known about this show than the first. The placeholder footage was taken from various car journeys in Total Divas. From the brief description given, the series will follow two superstars as they travel between events in their car. It appears that hidden camera footage will be its style. Think of it as “Table For 3” in a less formal setting. Fans of that format are likely to enjoy this. Of course, it remains to be seen how much it will differentiate itself.
Stone Cold Podcasts
Two new podcasts were announced on tonight’s pay-per-view. One with Ric Flair, the other with Shawn Micheals. Both of these actually featured teaser footage. This of course means that the podcasts are not going to be live. They were reportedly recorded last week. This will be a controversial decision to some, as the argument was often made that the live nature of the discussions gave everything an extra edge. Admittedly though, the bite that was praised in the past seemed to greatly diminish after the first two editions, so perhaps the numbers no longer justified the added expense that live programming brings. We’ll see how wise that was in time.
