The WWE Network continues rolling through some new content. Although not a lot of content, the content all seemed to deliver big time thus far this week. It is nice when everything comes together, isn’t it?
These WWE Network additions are important although all fairly standard. Unfiltered with Renee Young in particular might be the WWE Network’s longest running original series, excluding pre-shows and in ring action while Breaking Ground is of course widely praised. Let’s take a look more in-depth, shall we?
RAW Pre-Show
This episode of the RAW Pre-Show was different than what we’re used to and instead was more reminiscent of pay-per-view pre-shows or past ones, with it coming live from the arena. As a result, we don’t have our usual panel of Scott Stanford, David Otunga, and Corey Graves. Instead we have the always charming Renee Young, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, and… still Corey Graves. Corey Graves who made sure to still attack David Otunga, even without him being there to return the favor, which was hilarious.
As for what this show consisted of, it was actually fairly important. The show revealed several Slammy Award winners with Eden among others on interview duty for those who accept the awards. This led to some very entertaining segments, one especially with Damien Sandow and The Miz. For a special event, this was fun although I definitely missed the chemistry between the usual hosts, and I even missed the WWE Headquarters studio. While this was kind of a mess, it was certainly fun for a one-off event.
Breaking Ground
I seriously love Breaking Ground so much. This episode was a big reminder as to why. I thought they took a lot of stories that have been building for the season while mixing them with some more recent developments and as a result the near forty minute episode created a lot of comedy, drama, and emotion. That explains most episodes of this series, though with only two left of this season, many have had more time to build and play out.
I think the most interesting for me though was the newest, with the focus on Sami Zayn. Sami Zayn is an absolutely amazing talent who is returning on this week’s NXT, which by the way you can expect a review for right here on The WWE Network Chronicle. His struggles with his injury are definitely emotional, and had this episode been shown a month prior it may have been largely depressing, but knowing he is back makes it less so. As always, check it out.
Unfiltered with Renee Young
There is so much to enjoy here. First of all, Renee is always entertaining and extremely charming as an interviewer. This not being a celebrity one is a big plus, and with Dolph Ziggler being the guest you knew it would be good. It was. Dolph’s personality is very entertaining and this covers a number of subjects including his comedy and his goal to have a singles match at Wrestlemania.
They also got into a little bit of ribbing with one another over the idea for this show, which was enjoyable in and of itself. Oh and Dolph is wearing a Nikki Bella “Fearless” ugly Christmas sweater, so how could you not want to see this? As always, Unfiltered episodes with talent deliver and while it was only around ten minutes in length, it is well worth a watch regardless.
There is some bad news, however. They revealed on this episode that this is the season finale for Unfiltered. I’m not sure if this means the series will end up over, as she did tease filming things with both Xavier Woods and Heath Slater lately, but regardless it appears to be the final episode for awhile at least.
Closing Thoughts
So, it’s only three items. While that isn’t much, combined only equaling around an hour and a half, it all delivered fairly well. This was a more important than usual RAW Pre-Show, Unfiltered delivered in spades, and at this point you can always expect Breaking Ground do be very entertaining. Looking ahead, the rest of the week looks dull minus NXT, especially since Superstars may not have any matches this week. Thankfully, we have these RAW uploads still incoming.
