Every week WWE Superstars is presented on the WWE Network, usually being added around 3 PM EST. I am a fan and watch the show religiously so why not share some thoughts and insight, especially for those who may not keep up with it and want to know what they’re missing, or conversely, those who do and want to see what others may think?
As always, WWE Network additions like Superstars tend to be overlooked, but this week seems quite interesting to me as Tyler Breeze, Prince Pretty himself, graces us with his presence. Add in Ascension taking on yet another odd ball tag team and the night just feels like it will be a good one. And what is this? Instead of the usual team of Rich Brennan and Byron Saxton, Rich is paired up with The Miz! The Miz returning to commentary is definitely a good thing. So how was the show? Let’s take a look and find out, shall we?
Tyler Breeze vs. Jack Swagger
So, this was something I was excited for. Jack Swagger is pretty underrated as an in-ring talent, I feel, and obviously Tyler Breeze is fantastic. Unfortunately, this match didn’t quite live up to the expectations I had. A show that usually keeps some longer matches unfortunately had quite the short one, with this going barely five minutes.
Regardless, the action itself was good while it lasted and I enjoyed the finishing stretch quite a bit. I also was pleasantly surprised by the commentary team calling Breeze’s finisher the Unprettier. For some reason when he first introduced it, the commentary team seemed to dance around what to call it. Breeze picks up the win in a fine match, but one I feel a little let down by.

After the match we had a look at Kevin Owens and Neville’s match from RAW, which was a lot of fun, and of course the Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens feud which has really taken off in recent weeks. The feud is one a lot of us having been waiting for and the first month or so of the feud really seemed lackluster, but they’ve made up for it in my eyes. After that, the focus became on the “Positivity Party” by the New Day with Chris Jericho’s RAW return. This was a lot of fun, although I’ve seen some people criticize it. To each their own, as I really enjoyed it. Lastly, we get a Goldust and R-Truth backstage promo, which was as weird as it was entertaining. And trust me, it was really weird.
The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor) vs. The Golden Truth (Goldust and R-Truth)
Last week, The Ascension took on the oddball tag team of Jack Swagger and Mark Henry, while this week they take on the oddball pairing of Goldust and R-Truth, also known as “The Golden Truth” apparently. While it isn’t much, a little story of Ascension facing different weird tag teams could be entertaining. It would give Superstars more appeal as well, at least for the regular viewers who may like a little bit more story.
As for the match itself, Goldust always plays a really good face in peril and he absolutely delivered in that role here. Honestly, us still seeing Goldust in action in 2016 and at the quality he still brings is astounding and I am certainly grateful for it. After a R-Truth hot tag, the Golden Truth picks up the win and the Ascension still can’t pick up momentum. Could it change next week?

After the match, we had some WWE Trivia for the first time in awhile, I believe. Do you know the answer?
Finally, we had a special look at the end of RAW with Roman Reigns defending his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Sheamus featuring Vince McMahon as the special guest referee, along with the big announcement that the WWE Championship will be defended in the match. This would wrap up the show.

Closing Thoughts
This week’s episode of WWE Superstars perfectly adequate. As far as these shows go, you can’t and shouldn’t compare them to bigger shows in terms of star power or stories, but Breeze and Goldust being on the show definitely gives it some extra intrigue. The matches themselves were fine, albeit the opener could have been much better than that. The show isn’t going to shake anybody’s foundation, but it was perfectly harmless at worst and pretty fun at best. For people interested in some non-offensive ‘rasslin, this show delivers that.
