At 3 AM EST on Thursday morning, a random episode of ECW Wrestling hit the WWE Network! Yesterday, to the surprise of some, we did not get one single ECW upload. However we may potentially receive a large drop today as when episodes show up early, it is usually a sign of many more to come.
For those unaware, ECW Wrestling is the WWE’s name for ECW on TNN, which of course due to copyright reasons they cannot use. We need 49 more episodes of ECW on TNN, or ECW Wrestling, to complete the show’s entire television run. Meanwhile, we are likely going to receive another 70 or so episodes of Hardcore TV supposing they decide to finish the series off in this drop.
That is excluding the 1993 and 1994 episodes that remain missing. Information on why the episodes are missing isn’t known, but the speculation is that WWE simply doesn’t have copies of those episodes. Some have suggested them work out a deal with RF Video if that is indeed the case, but as you may know, that is a can of worms that WWE may not be interested in opening.
