The Stone Cold Podcast on the WWE Network has had a somewhat mixed response from viewers. The show was initially beloved due to the controversial nature of the Vince McMahon and Triple H interviews. In fact, calling them interviews is almost a stretch as they were more presented as interrogations.
However eventually they would become less interesting interrogations and more in line as a typical interview. Of course, Steve Austin still asks some controversial questions but ultimately they feel more like conversations than they did initially. While it can be argued that a Stone Cold Steve Austin isn’t as good of an interviewer as a Chris Jericho or a JBL, the success of his show can’t be disputed. It is constantly one of the most viewed items on the WWE Network.
Recently we had the Big Show as a guest in a highly acclaimed interview. Prior to this we had several taped podcasts which while both were entertaining, neither seemed to have the same social media interest. Looking ahead it will be interesting to see if they continue the live format or if they will mix in taped and live interviews. I’d be good either way, as I think the live versions are more interesting but with some canned taped episodes we can see some more regularly.
The big question however, is what will we see next? Three major interviews were advertised last year, with guests in future episodes were supposed to include Hulk Hogan, Sting, and The Undertaker. With Hulk Hogan, he was rumored to be the guest that was supposed to be next before his scandal occurred, leading to the awkward Paige interview we had instead. Sting’s injury likely caused a delay in his podcast as well. Then of course, we have The Undertaker who many were most excited about. We have no clue what happened there, so hopefully it will still happen.
With all these names still not yet seen, the recent return of Shane McMahon, and plenty of other top guys not yet interviewed, who do you want to see next? Maybe Shane O Mac? Maybe a Randy Orton or Roman Reigns? Maybe you want someone not listed like a Vince Russo or The New Day?
