Earlier today, The Rock released a video hyping big news for Wrestlemania 32. Of course, this set the rumour mill off in full force, with many wild suggestions brought up.

Later on that day, WWE chimed in to clarify on the Rock’s statement:
This year’s WrestleMania will be absolutely free for new WWE Network subscribers.

The Rock took to Twitter today to help kick off WWE’s first-ever #FreeWrestleMania campaign. New subscribers who sign up now for WWE Network will receive a free month trial that includes this year’s Showcase of the Immortals, WrestleMania 32, on April 3!
Following this big announcement, WWE have gone on a social media blitz, using #FreeWrestleMania to get the message out there. This hashtag has been included in several marketing videos already.
While the concept of a free month to new WWE Network subscribers is nothing new by now, the fact that WWE are willing to take a gamble on giving their biggest show of the year away to many people can be taken two ways: either this is a bold move that could skyrocket Network subscriber numbers to 1.5 million and beyond or it will barely make a dent and WWE will seem desperate and be perceived as running out of growth options. Either way, this will make the next subscriber total announcement on April 4th very interesting!
