WWE Network just quietly added a singular Hardcore TV episode (as of writing this article) from 1999. What many may have noticed is that while this batch of uploads have been impressive in size, the rate of which they’re being uploaded has been greatly reduced. Of course, it’s easy (and understandable) to be cynical and assume WWE are getting lazy during the final build-up to WrestleMania 32. However, there is another much more likely reason.
Joey Styles is regularly questioned about ECW content on the WWE Network via Twitter and has made it very clear that preparing the company’s tapes for release is a lot more painstaking than usual. Besides the obvious copyright issues inherent with licensed music, ECW also used less audio channels. This makes replacing audio a lot more challenging and time consuming.
On top of this, it seems likely that all footage is being prepared on the fly, with content appearing only when ready, thus creating a severe bottleneck full of stops and starts.
