NXT TakeOver: Toronto is this Saturday, the night before Survivor Series and it’s set to be yet another historic night with all both titles up for grabs, the final of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament and much much more.
This week’s edition of WWE NXT on the WWE Network sees the action return to Full Sail and it all kicks off with some action from the women’s division. With just three matches and some Toronto hype, this was an enjoyable go-home show.
Singles Match
Liv Morgan vs. Peyton Royce w/ Billie Kay
The feud between these women seems to intensify each week and it’s great for a division that has lost a lot in terms of the Four Horsewomen, Alexa Bliss and Carmella. This match however didn’t last long after Billie Kay got involved.
Ultimately Liv Morgan wins by DQ but after a beatdown Aliyah makes her way out to the ring to save Morgan, but the power of Kay and Royce is just too much. Enter Ember Moon who destroys both women with a series of powerful moves, and stands tall with Morgan.
I’m excited to see where the women’s division goes from here after Saturday in Toronto. Are any of these women worthy of challenging Asuka? Sure, we just need a good story to go along with it and we could potentially see some classic matches.
Winner: Liv Morgan by DQ
A video package airs showing Almas turning on Cedric Alexander last month, hyping up their main event match later in the show.
More TakeOver: Toronto hype as Paul Ellering is told that he will be suspended in a shark cage above the ring during the Dusty Tag Team Classic finals to prevent any interference on his behalf. A video package airs showcasing this year’s matches.
Back to ringside with the returning Elias Samson who is serenading the Full Sail crowd before his match with the debuting Nathan Cruz.
Singles Match
Elias Samson vs. Nathan Cruz
This was a fairly quick match with Elias Samson picking up the victory against British pro wrestler Nathan Cruz who makes his in-ring debut at NXT. The match comes to a conclusion with Samson planting Cruz with his finisher for the win. Nothing exciting to see here really. Could have been a lot more. Great to see Cruz in NXT though.
Backstage again with Liv Morgan, Aliyah and Ember Moon being interviewed about Billie Kay and Peyton Royce. Ultimately it comes down to Morgan challenging Kay and Royce to a match, if they can find a third partner.
The commentators hype up the Samoa Joe/Shinsuke Nakamura championship match at TakeOver: Toronto this Saturday followed by a video package from The Revival/#DIY tag team match which took place at TakeOver: Brooklyn back in August, it goes on to hype their upcoming match this Sunday.
We get a plug for Asuka vs. the returning Mickie James before the focus moves to Bobby Roode vs. Tye Dillinger. Roode plays the perfect heel here, while Dillinger talks about his second opportunity following his release from WWE the first time around.
Singles Match
Andrade “Cien” Almas vs. Cedric Alexander
Main event time and things are definitely personal between this two. We finally get a match which lasts a little more than ten minutes with some great back and forth action between the two competitors.
The match comes to an end with Almas trying to plant Alexander with the double knees, but he move sout of the way and hits the Lumbar Check. He’s unable to get the pin in time and Almas takes this opportunity and moves over towards the ropes. Almas plants Alexander with a DDT to pick up the win.
This week’s edition of WWE NXT closes with a preview of Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Samoa Joe this Saturday at NXT TakeOver: Toronto, exclusively on the WWE Network.
