In a rare case of hype delivering, WWE’s much-discussed press conference at the O2 Arena has bourne some interesting fruit.
Triple H and William Regal announced today that a new WWE UK Champion will be crowned! The two-day, 16-man tournament will take place on January 14th and 15th at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool with both shows beginning at 8PM GMT. Both shows are expected to air on the Network, presumably live. Tickets went on-sale today at 12pm GMT and can be purchased at Live Nation.
Triple H had the following to say about the announcement:
“Our passionate U.K. fans deserve to have their own Champion. The tournament is the next step in our ongoing strategy to create localized content for our global WWE Network, develop another brand that engages our passionate fans, and add a new dimension to our on-going storylines.”
UK talents confirmed so far include:
- Trent Seven from Wolverhampton
- Pete Dunne from Birmingham
- Tyler Bate from Dudley, West Midlands
- Wolfgang from Glasgow
- Tyson T-Bone from Malvern
- Tucker from Northern Ireland
- Jordan Devlin from Bray, County Wicklow
- Roy Johnson from London
The commentary team will consist of Michael Cole and Ring of Honor alum Nigel McGuinness.
