If you’ll allow me for a moment, let’s lay out this whole saga. A couple of days ago, I received information about the first two years of the ECW relaunch being prepared for upload on WWE Network. This included private thumbnails for some of the shows to confirm their existence. We (both myself and the source) knew that these shows were already in the system. Once they’re in the system, they usually appear for public viewing within the hour. It’s such a routine at this point that it was a given to run with that assumption.
Obviously, time went on and nothing was appearing. It was odd, but delays happen. However, it now seems that there’s a plan in place that could have interesting repercussions in the future.
WWE is indeed preparing WWECW for upload. That’s still definite. After some further digging though, it turns out that every single one of the WWECW episodes waiting in the system has an automatic upload date of Monday, July 10th coded into them. Basically, it seems as if WWE is planning to drop the entire 2 years of the show in one go. This would be quite the change in strategy and will be something to keep an eye on in the future.
Of course, this apparent upload date raises the question of whether this will still be included with the smattering of Old School shows as part of the July classic content, or be classed as August (WWE officially class any classic content in a month as the content for the month after). Considering how meagre the MSG shows would look on their own, the former seems more likely than the latter.
