So, bare with me on this as numerous stories have landed close together and somewhat contradict each other. Pro Wrestling Insider has been breaking news with regards to WWE Network’s classic content focus for the summer.
Firstly, they added to our own WWECW story, claiming that the July 10th bulk drop would be the first 50 episodes, while a second drop of the show would come later in the summer. We have evidence to dispute the “first 50 episodes” part, but the 2nd drop seems feasible.
However, PWI also now believe that WWE is planning a “huge” batch of WCCW footage also coming “this summer”. At very least, not everything is likely to fit into the remaining summer months of July and August. Even if we class September as part of the season, this would require the July 10th ECW relaunch content to be classed as part of the July content, which goes against the usual cutoff point and collection routine. Then, WCCW would slot in during August and the reported 2nd WWECW drop would have to be added in September.
This isn’t to say that these batches of classic content aren’t coming. I strongly believe that they are. However, the timeline seems a bit muddled. The only way we’ll truly know what’s going on is when this footage begins to appear, which if recent developments are any indication, we may now be getting advanced warnings for anyway.
