Germany’s wXw is the only independent promotion currently offered on Peacock & WWE Network, which they started supporting on there from January 2023 onwards. wXw has been putting out shows on a mostly weekly basis on Saturdays since the indie drops started back in August 2020.
Although wXw events are second-run, as their events air on their own service (wXwNOW via YouTube membership) first, we will report on the happenings of wXw events as they come to the WWE Network to give the promotion, and the European scene, some more deserved exposure. It will also serve as a way to prime readers on eventual standouts that might join NXT Europe in the future.
wXw Broken Rules is wXw’s singular fall marquee event where in most matches, the rules get broken! The fiercest matches of the European pro wrestling scene happen on Broken Rules, with quite a few big matches at this event ticking that box as well. - wXw Shotgun Championship: Elijah Blum (c) defeated High Performer Ltd’s Anil Marik by pinfall to retain.
- Baby Allison defeated Akane Fujita by submission.
- Aigle Blanc and Mike D Vecchio vs High Performer Ltd’s Anil Marik and Tristan Archer fought to a double count-out.
- wXw Women’s World Championship Last Woman Standing: Impact’s Masha Slamovich defeated Ava Everett (c) to become the new champion.
- WWE German commentator Sebastian Hackl defeated Zafar Ameen by submission.
- wXw World Tag Team Championship Ladder: AMBOSS’ Laurance Roman and Icarus defeated Dennis Dullnig/Hektor Invictus (c) and Fast Time Moodo/Peter Tihanyi to become the new champions.
- wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship: AMBOSS’ Robert Dreissker (c) defeated Maggot by referee stoppage to retain.
Non-match notes:
- Alex Duke defeated Bobby Gunns, Kohei Kinoshita and Shigehiro Irie by pinfall in the wXw Fight Forever pre-show match aired on YouTube.
- Patrick “Cy”Bork accompanied wXw Shotgun Champion Elijah Blum during the opening match to deter RCF and Anil Marik’s shenanigans.
- WWE German commentator Sebastian Hackl announced that he has freed up all 2023 weekends for wXw from Broken Rules onwards and asked Axel Tischer the time and place to face off.
- High Performer Ltd vs Vecchio/Blanc started off with a pre-match attack from the faces.
- After the double count-out, Blanc and Vecchio attempted to attack High Performer Ltd more, but the referee stopped the attempt.
- wXw organized their first Last Woman Standing match at this event.
- RCF distracted Sebstian Hackl after his win so Anil Marik could attack him from behind.
- Aaron Insane, a fellow German wrestler and Maggot’s trainer, was in attendance for the show and helped Maggot escape a count-out loss early in the match.
- After Dreissker retained his wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship, the rest of AMBOSS came out as he got the mic to announce his group’s dominance. He also said that the group misses one world championship, whichafter he called out wXw Women’s World Champion Masha Slamovich to offer her a spot in AMBOSS. Masha counters the offer with a challenge for a match to unify the Unified World Wrestling and Women’s World Championships and rejected his offer to join AMBOSS. She didn’t back down when asked to walk away, which prompted Robert to accept the unification match for 23rd Anniversary.
