With WWE moving to Netflix in January (with all shows moving there for most of the world), most countries already have the three core live weekly shows listed. However, a change came on as Crown Jewel weekend started.
Netflix, according to its own platform, moved SmackDown’s debut date on the platform to a week after the original debut date, that being January 10th. This will bring the debut of all three flagship shows to the same week instead of what technically is the week before for SmackDown.
However, WWE hasn’t reflected that change. The international YouTube airing of SmackDown last Friday still had the breakfiller with the January 3rd date, nor did WWE announce any different date in other ways. This brings the start date of SmackDown in a bit of an unsure predicament as both parties report different dates. As time of this writing, we’ve reached out to Netflix for an update regarding the status of SmackDown’s debut on Netflix and will get back to you as soon as we can.
UPDATE: Netflix confirmed to WWE Network News that the 11th January date is final. There’s no word yet on reasoning why the debut date has moved, nor an update on the international airing of the January 3rd episode that was supposed to be SD’s Netflix debut.
