WWE’s latest Premium Live Event was WrestlePalooza. This is the first main roster Premium Live Event to air on ESPN in the United States and features a marquee bout between Brock Lesnar and John Cena as part of Cena’s retirement tour. Multiple championships were defended as well, including the vacant Women’s World Championship and the Undisputed WWE Championship. Who will walk away with the win going out of WrestlePalooza? Below are the Road To/Countdown to WWE WrestlePalooza 2025 notes and results for 09/20/25:
- ESPN hosted their first part of the preshow called Road to Wrestlepalooza on the ESPN YouTube channel hosted by O’Shea Jackson and TJ Jefferson.
- Pete Rosenberg joined in at the ESPN panel, and later got replaced by Miz and Sam Roberts (with Roberts later leaving). There were no other segments during the Road To broadcast.
- Big E, Michael Cole, Tyrese Haliburton and Wade Barrett opened the panel up and as the Countdown broadcast went on, some cycled out with The Miz, Pete Rosenberg, Jackie Redmond.
- Security had to pull The Uso’s and Bronson Reed/Bron Breakker apart backstage.
- Cathy Kelley interviewed fans about the mixed tag match.
- Raw GM Adam Pearce announced that LA Knight will be the referee for Bronsons vs Uso’s.
- Drew McIntyre had a sit-down interview with Kelley about his championship match.
- Triple H was a guest on the panel to talk about the ESPN x WWE partnership.
- Byron interviewed Stephanie Vaquer about her Women’s World Title match.
- Michael Cole had a video essay on how much it means to him that WWE is going to ESPN.
- The War & Treaty sang to close the countdown show.

- Brock Lesnar defeated John Cena by pinfall after an F5.
- Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed defeated The Uso’s by pinfall after a Tsunami.
- Vacant Women’s World Championship: Stephanie Vaquer defeated Iyo Sky by pinfall after a moonsault spiral tap to become the new champion.
- AJ Lee and CM Punk defeated WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch and World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins by submission with a Black Widow.
- Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) defeated Drew McIntyre by pinfall after a Cross Rhodes to retain.
Below are other relevant notes pertaining to WWE WrestlePalooza 2025 for 09/20/25:
- This was the first Premium Live Event to air on ESPN’s DTC service in the United States and will be the US-based home of main roster Premium Live Events until September 2030. Netflix remains to air PLE’s regardless of brand in most international territories while non-Netflix territories will still receive the PLE via the legacy WWE Network.
- WWE introduced a new signature intro with the main show.
- Floor trons have been reintroduced to the stage since July 2020 (last Thunderdome episodes)
- Pat McAfee made his return to commentary.
- John Cena entered with a group of children.
- Paul Heyman announced Brock Lesnar on behalf of Alicia Taylor.
- Lesnar F5’d ref Dan Engler and John Cena after the match
- The ESPN PLE format has been tweaked to the point that there are commercial breaks in between matches. Akin to NXT/SD, Netflix (and legacy Network) get a “we’ll be right back” screen.
- LA Knight didn’t enforce disqualifications, unofficially making the tag match a No Holds Barred match.
- The Undertaker announced that Stephanie McMahon will be inducted in the 2026 Hall of Fame.
