WWE Returning to Australia for a Multi-Year PLE Deal

With WWE making deals left and right, this one is more long term than just one PLE.

WWE yesterday announced via a press release that they will return to Perth, Australia in December for a Weekend Takeover. The Takeover will include the go-home SmackDown on December 11th, the Wrestlepalooza Premium Live Event on December 12th and the Raw after Wrestlepalooza on December 14th, with all events emanating from the RAC Arena. This will kick off a deal that would have the Weekend Takeover go to Perth for 2027 and 2028 as well, although it’s unknown if that will keep the spot in December after this year or it moves to other months as the years go on.

This is the second time WWE uses the Wrestlepalooza name, with ECW having used it back in the 90’s/early 2000’s and WWE’s first time being the first PLE to air on ESPN Unlimited after the move from Peacock in September 2025. Expect a two-hour Countdown show before the main show and a Post-Show thereafter on ESPN Unlimited (United States) and YouTube (globally) plus a chance that part of the Wrestlepalooza coverage will air on a ESPN station in the US.

In the United States, the SmackDown episode will air on a tape delay on the USA Network due to USA keeping SmackDown on at 8 PM EST, while Wrestlepalooza will air on ESPN Unlimited and the Raw thereafter on Netflix of course. International fans will be able to watch all three events live on Netflix at 8 AM EST/1 PM BST (subject to change, check out the upcoming events page for up-to-date details).

August 27, 2026 – WWE, in partnership with the Western Australian Government through Tourism Western Australia, today announced a new three-year agreement that will see Perth host WWE Weekend Takeovers featuring a Premium Live Event annually from 2026 through 2028, kicking off with Wrestlepalooza: Perth on Saturday, December 12, 2026.
The first WWE Weekend Takeover under the new agreement will see RAC Arena host SmackDown® on Friday, December 11, followed by Wrestlepalooza: Perth on Saturday, December 12, and Raw® on Monday, December 14.
The announcement follows the blockbuster success of WWE’s inaugural Wrestlepalooza in 2025, headlined by John Cena and Brock Lesnar, that kicked off WWE’s partnership with ESPN.
WWE’s previous events in Perth, including Elimination Chamber: Perth® in 2024 and Crown Jewel: Perth® in 2025, collectively attracted tens of thousands of visitors from outside Western Australia and generated more than AUD $58 million for the state’s economy.
In addition to the live events, Perth will also play host to a range of WWE fan experiences throughout the city, including WWE Superstores, WWE Superstar meet-and-greets, community activities and more.
Three-event combo tickets for Wrestlepalooza: Perth, SmackDown and Raw will go on general sale Thursday, September 10 at 10am AWST.
