WWE’s latest big event aired today when the WWE re-debuted their old-school Saturday staple, Sunday Night’s Main Event. This special dates back to 1985 and featured the biggest matches outside of the PPV’s at the time until 1992. With a first revival in 2006-2008, they lowered the importance of those specials, but this attempt has been shown to be more faithful to the old-school format of SNME.

This edition notably moved to Sunday due to Labor Day Weekend (and to replace MITB for that weekend). With that special edition, there are still a lot of marquee matches, such as Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton to settle one of the highest profile feuds of the year and Bron Breakker vs Oba Femi to crown the future of WWE. This event also features Lil Yachty making his in-ring debut against US Champion Baron Corbin, with a 5 minute time limit with Trick Williams’ title rematch happening if Yachty survives and a six woman tag. Who will walk out of SNME as the winner? Find out below!

  • Quavo narrated the cold open and opened the main show off with a concert akin to a NXT TakeOver.
  • Lil Yachty disrespectfully declined Corbin’s final offer to back down from their match by hitting him with a microphone.

  • Brandi, from the crowd, threw a drink at Randy during the match.
  • At the end of the main event, it looked like the match was about to be thrown to a no contest or Cody winning by referee stoppage due to multiple ref bumps and a substitute ref checking on a bloodied, pleading and almost knocked out Orton, but the match didn’t stop and the original referee counted the pinfall.
